BlackNificent Books and More... is a family owned and operated bookstore specializing in books by and about people of African ancestry.

Located at 2011 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC. 27610

(919) 250-9110

This institution was founded March 5, 1994 by Dr. Kamau Kambon and Dr. Mawiyah Kambon. Website development is currently maintained by their children, Nataki Yejide Kambon and Obadele Kwame Kambon.

Kamau and Mawiyah share roles as community parents, activist/organizers, educator and psychologist respectively, and international entrepreneurs.  Their desire to bring national and global news and experiences to Raleigh and the Triangle area was impetus for this venture.

The bookstore has become an institution with the help of community.  Share in these experiences by browsing our Featured Books (Top 20 Titles), Bennu Cultural Center or monthly Calendar.  Our goal is to help restore people of African ancestry to our traditional greatness by providing a medium and place to explore our rich history and culture.

Nia Statement:

To make our collective vocation

the building and developing of our community

in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness;

by doing as much as we can in the way that we can, in order to

leave our community more beautiful and more beneficial than when we inherited it.

The Kambons have lived this statement for over 30 years.

In 1994 they brought to our community a BlackNificent institution.
